At the beginning of December 2011, an international jury, composed of Arie Van Lysebeth (Chairman), Chin Unsuk, Michael Jarrell, Bruno Mantovani, Peter Swinnen and Frederik van Rossum, has chosen the winning work of the International Composition Competition 2011. The laureate and the finalists will be informed personally and confidentially during the month of December 2011. On 18 May 2012, the results of this competition will be announced to the public.
In the course of the month of June 2012, candidates who have not been selected for the final will find a list on this website with the code names of the participating works, with the stage of the competition that each work has reached.
The laureate work for violin and symphony orchestra will be played 12 times in the final of the 2012 Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition. From 21 until 26 May 2012 it will be performed at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts by the finalists of the violin competition and the National Orchestra of Belgium, conducted by Gilbert Varga. The 12 performances will be broadcast live on radio, television and internet and the work will be released on CD and/or DVD. SABAM presents the laureate with a prize of eur 10,000. Each finalist will receive a prize of eur 1,500.
